OH MY! It looks like someone has left the barn door open again! Funny thing is, all the roosters and the ducks have come together to gather round the table. So what's a gal to do when this happens? Well, I'll tell you what she's to do, she's to throw a barnyard bash that's what. Invite them on in and sit them all down and serve up a feast, like any good host would do!
Come on in now, don't be shy!
I've got the perfect little table cloth I picked up at an estate sale this summer. It's just the right time of year to bring it out too, don't you think?
Then I set out my green terracotta dinnerware.
And look what happened, those cocky little roosters jumped right up on the table.
They think they are something because they were bred from Fitz and Floyd. Hoo-hoo-hoo!
I wasn't about to be deterred I kept setting the table and put out my everyday flatware.
And my pretty iridescent blue goblets. Well, we were having company for dinner you know!
Of course word got out about those roosters taking their places at the table like that.
So the ducks just couldn't have that!
Oh no! They jumped right on up there too!
And claimed their spots as well.
I really was trying very hard to ignore all the commotion they were creating.
So I offered them a bountiful harvest to enjoy.
I thought they would also enjoy some pretty napkins since they were guests in our home.
When all of sudden one of the more gentrified ducks decided he would be in charge of the napkins.
As you can imagine this didn't go over well with the roosters, and one had to sit nearby to keep watch over the napkins as well.
Then another claimed the creamer right away.
Before I knew it, there was even one who said he would be in charge of lighting the candle, and so he did!
All the while, this great big rooster was walking around the table strutting his stuff.
He got right into my flowers after dragging in a bunch of leaves from outside!
I recognized it right away.
It was obviously the king of the coup from that Fitz and Floyd pen.
Aren't they something?
It was starting to get crowded and things were getting out of control fast.
So I quickly asked the blessing and served up everyone who was seated.
And we had one interesting evening at the table tonight.
Can you imagine?

What an adorable barnyard story :) Love all the visual aids. Your table is so cute!
ReplyDeletePretty barnyard table!
ReplyDeleteWell, I had fun!! I giggled through the whole thing, especially the cocky little roosters from Fitz and Floyd. Those were really beautiful plates by the way. Just don't tell them. We wouldn't want them to get any cockier than they already are.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it fun when you get a theme inspiration?
Great job! Love it all, especially that tablecloth!
Mary, I just love this. Your plates are GORGEOUS. I love the colors of the roosters and the yellow is just perfect with such a pretty border. All of your accessories are stunning. I've never seen the duck napkin rings, how cute are they. I love your lazy susan in the center of your table. I need one. The napkins, and huge rooster are so perfect for your table. Great tablescape. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDelete"Cocky" Roosters? Ha Ha! Seriously though, that looks like such a fun tablescape and so very warm and inviting! I also noticed the little side table (off-white with painting) in the background and had to say how much I love that! Have a great evening!

ReplyDeleteWhat a cute table!! Love your roosters! But, what I really love is seeing your Franciscan Ivy in the background!
ReplyDeleteWonderful tablescape....love your use of all the colors....Cleo
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable story and table, Mary! Love the F & F ceramics, of course- everything is so colorful. I can remember having a Lazy Susan on our table- as kids, we used to spin it around so fast that things flew off and we got yelled at for making a mess. LOL
ReplyDeleteYou asked about my candlesticks- I just scruffed them up a little, gave them one coat of plain black, and a final coat of ORB. I always do this when I use ORB, since the cheap black paint works fantastic as a primer.
Have fun painting your goodies, and let me know how they turn out. Thanks for coming by for a visit. Don't be a stranger.
:-) Sue
Your table setting is so beautiful! It's so warm and inviting with all the beautiful fall colors, and roosters. It's gorgeous....Kathy
ReplyDeleteLove your sassy yardbirds! They look like they're having a ball at the barnyard bash!
ReplyDeleteYour rooster is sure strutting his stuff (the one on the plate). I love how his feet are placed. What a beautiful table cloth. YOu are right, it is perfect and it sure picks up the gorgeous yellow in your plates. I don't have a single rooster but sure love them and saw a gorgeous one at Home Goods the other day. Your standing rooster reminds me of that one. The colors are so brilliant. Fun barnyard.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your story telling so much that I forgot to look at the pictures! ;) Your table is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Teri

ReplyDeleteHow gorgeous. I wonder if there's any high end caterers in your area that could use your talents. You are really good at the whole layering and mixing of creative tablescapes. I think I'm doing things cool if I use a tablecloth and fabric napkins - ha!
