Our Holiday Dining Room

It's time for Metamorphosis Monday, so I'm showing you my dining room since it is now all dressed and ready for the holidays.  Feel free to come on in an take a look around.

On this side table I have my collection of Fitz and Floyd displayed.

I purchased these pieces many years ago.  I just love the ribbons on them.

Please help your self to a chocolate bon-bon.  Yum!

Does anyone remember when I got this little Fitz and Floyd box at our church rummage sale for .50cents?  Now you can understand why I was so thrilled don't you?

I went a little overboard and dressed the lamps up too, after I did the chandy.

This year I added greenery to the chandelier.

I have added ribbons and these balls for years but this is the first time with the greenery.

I'm not sure if I like it, or if it's too much.

Or maybe it needs more contrasting greenery leaves too, but regardless, it's done for now.

My sconces by the mirror got a little greenery too.  I purchased these little wreaths from Crabtree and Evelyn years ago.  I bought several and use them on both my sconces in the dining room and the den.

Here's a sneak peek at another one of my nativity sets.  I'll be showing you more details tomorrow at the Reason for the Season party.

My mother bought me this large Christmas cactus for Thanksgiving.  I need to find a nice pot for this.

Here is my Gold Santa.

And my silver Santa, well he's more like silvery white.

The china cabinet has undergone a few changes for the season too.

This year my gold star basket moved from the mantle in the den into the dining room.

I was so excited to find it fit in here perfectly.  I just love the weave on this basket box.

I unpacked my old Christmas china to display.

I have had this set since I first got married.  It is just an inexpensive set from Belks called Holiday Ribbon.  When my husband and I got married, I received a call from one of his aunts our first Christmas.  She was calling for my husbands grandmother who wanted to know what our Holiday china pattern was because that is what she wanted to give us for Christmas.  I had no pattern and they insisted I pick something out.  So I did, and this is what I ended up with.  I received quite a bit from his side of the family as well as my mother who also thought it was a great idea and added on quite a bit too.  We have used this every year since.  I'm hoping to upgrade this a bit soon.

It's a very simple pattern of holly, pine cones, pears and ribbon with a gold rim.

Not too bad paired with my newest Lenox.

And finally, here's more new goblets.  These are the Better Homes and Gardens glasses they had at Walmart this Fall.  A few days before Thanksgiving they went on clearance at our store to $1.50 each.  I just could not resist since they are a lighter green and match my Ivy dishes beautifully.  They don't go as well with these dishes but I do have the darker green goblets for these.   I've really got to get some more rearranging done soon.  Maybe after the holidays.

Well, there you have it, as you can see this room has changed quite a bit and beautifully I think.
Thanks for visiting today, it was so nice of you to drop by!
Have a great day!

A Snowy Glowy Village

Hello!  It's cold outside and many parts of the country are getting socked with snow.  So is my part of the country!  Well,  my bakers rack on the screen porch is anyway, at least that's what I'm saying.  LOL!  Don't believe me?  Okay, no problem, I'll just show you.  I've got proof positive that it looks like a virtual snow village out there!

See, I told you!  Just look at all that snow out there!  It sure doesn't seem to be stopping this town from all the hustle and bustle of the season though.

This is the first time I have put up my snow village in over 6 years.

It's not anything special.  It's an expensive set my mother bought from me from a furniture store that was selling them weekly as a promotional discount one year.  She was quite determined to get the whole set and went back each week and bought me and my siblings each piece.  Thanks Mom!

The town gazebo.

Towns people sharing a bench.

There's lots of hustle and bustle around the church this time of year.

The post man is making his way back to the post office.

A lady and her son near the old mill and the old church.

The town clock stands in front of the library.  I believe it's 8pm already!

Looks like a few businesses are still open.  I know you want to stop in this one for a bit, don't ya?

Wonder if the Heileg Meyers has any good furniture deals this year.  Are they even still around?  IDK!

Whoops!  Lights out at the court house!  Isn't that ironic.

Hope you enjoyed the tour of my little snow village.
I am attending Seasonal Sunday.  Please be sure and stop by this party for more beautiful sights of the season.  Bundle up and stay warm, baby, it's cold out there!

Christmas Cloche Party

It's a Christmas Cloche party over at A Stroll Thru Life and I'm late.  Goodness me!  Please pardon my manners, Miss Marty!  Seems I've been out trying to catch up on a little Christmas shopping today and almost missed the events of the day.  I've only have a little bit to bring to the party though, but I'm here because I sure do love the company!  Bloggers are the best and most creative crowd to hang with, don't you think?  I really do appreciate the invitation too...so let's see what I've brought.

There are some things in life that just don't need anything extra to capture your attention, such as the nativity scene.  This is one of a few that I have.  It is just an inexpensive white china set, but I just adore the simplicity of it.  I also think it looks very rich here on this ornate stand, but maybe that's just me.

I have given it a spot of honor here in my largest cloche.  It is sitting on my marble plant stand.

On my side table in the dining room I have my small cloche.  It is holding one of my most interesting Santa's on my Fitz and Floyd pillar candle base.

I purchased this Santa many years ago from the Christmas Craftsman Classic.  It is hand carved and was too expensive to buy anything larger.  I totally love this little guy though.

On the dining room table I am cheating a bit!  I know these aren't Cloches but I have seen our host allow them before in the past, so I'm hoping I can submit them too.

And in the den, one more non cloche candle display.

You've seen this before if you follow me regularly, but I've added a bit more filler to this display.

It's all about the bling of the holidays here!

Merry Christmas Yall!

Thanks for visiting and as always, it's so good to hear from you again!

Everyday Holiday Table

Yes my dear blogging friends, you were correct when you said, you saw a table scape in my future with my newest dishes.  So, without holding out any longer, I am sharing one of our very simple settings from one of our everyday dinners.   I have decided these dishes will be used daily during the holidays and probably well into January and February for the winter months.  I still can't believe the deal I got on these but am loving having them around.  We've already eaten off of them several times.

This setting is quite appropriate to use, because we have had unusually record lows lately.  Would you believe just the other morning we had 16 degrees?  Seriously!  It has been some very cold days for this South Carolina native!  We may be over this now as we are expecting temps to get back to a high of 60 degrees.  Burrr!

It may be cold outside, but inside it's all cozy and warm.

And it's festive!

Here's my everyday setting.

My newest holiday dishes from the thrift store.  What a deal!

This is all the silverware we use for a regular family meal.

I like how my blue iridescence goblets coordinate with the blue in these dishes.  They even reflect just like snow too!  Cute huh?

On the lazy susan, we have all the essentials and a few decorative pieces too.

A sleigh full of paper napkins are typical for everyday dinners at our house.

My newest salt and pepper shakers for the holidays were given to me by my BFF.

Well, there you are friends, my newest everyday holiday dishes right before they got covered with warm heaping mounds of spaghetti and salad.  Yum!
