I do not usually decorate my mantle for valentines, but this year I just couldn't pass up the opportunity when it all came together so well. I've had the best time decorating for valentines this year all over the house, and on a budget too. I've got quite a bit to show you now, so I hope you'll stick around.
My valentines mantle definitely has vintage appeal.
I knew I was going to use my rose filled teapot for my centerpiece.
I only needed to add some pretty pink glittery hearts from the DT and a hot pink birdie from Michaels.
Then I remembered I had two rose teacups that I inherited from my MIL's collection. I was so thrilled that I thought of these. I think they fit in so perfectly!
Do you remember the pink trees I got from Michaels on clearance a few weeks back.
This is what I envisioned the minute I saw them. Heart trees! The glittery foam hearts are from the DT, too.
On the opposite side I added my FIL's old readers from school, a few cherub picks with the stems removed that I've had for a while.
On the mirror I have hung the pink bow I got on clearance from Michaels. Not sure how much I like this here, but, it's staying there for this year!
Then a bit more inspiration came when I was looking at The Graphics Fairy for graphics to add to my blog for Valentines. I just loved these so much I had to figure out a way to work them in.
These pink heart dollies from the DT made the perfect background for a banner made easy. I just printed out my favorite graphics, cut them out with craft scissors and used double sided tape.
Come on, you know they are just precious!
Whew! I LUVVVV It!!!
Now let's see what's up on the dining room table.
A plain red runner from DT was begging for a splash of paint!
These are really pink, funny how they look red reflecting off of the runner. They were part of my Michaels clearance shopping sale too.
Ooops, Sorry for the fuzzy pic!
I recently found this pretty jar on clearance at Hobby Lobby.
I pulled this arrangement together using a few things I already had and added in a few new roses from, you guessed it, the DT.
How do you like it, so far? I hope you do because I'm not through showing you my Valentines decor yet!
This heart came from DT too. I was going to paint it red but after seeing how well it matched my light fixture here in the kitchen I decided not to.
And finally on the front door, I have replaced the winter wreath with a Valentines plaque, I purchased at Kohls last year after Valentines clearance sale.
Thanks for sticking around, I hope you enjoyed the Valentines tour!

ReplyDeleteHow cute for Valentine's day!! Love all the things you put together! I'm not big on decorating most holidays, just seasons but I am trying to put together a little vignette in the foyer for V-day! I am still trying to get the house accessorized from Christmas!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteLove all your reds! Everything looks so festive for Valentine's Day.
Your dining room is so pretty! I don't do much for that holiday. Maybe a tablescape but that's all.
You have alot of pretty vignettes everywhere.
Enjoy your day!
I love all the reds AND the pinks. I *think* the mantel is my favorite part because I love that banner. I've never done one. I need to at least try. I also love the tea pot, but I really just think you gave the whole place a happy Valentine's look.
ReplyDeleteI want a pitcher/jug thingie like you got at Hobby Lobby. I wonder if ours has something similar. Probably gone by now... It would be perfect for my newly black and red kitchen.
Thanks for the inspiration!
This is the sweetest mantle I have ever seen. Each touch compliments the others — from the teapot to those pink heart trees (so clever) and all the way to the front door!
ReplyDeleteI love the Graphics Fairy and what you did with her vintage valentine's is the perfect finishing touch on your decorations. I can honestly say, you really put your "heart" into this post.

ReplyDeleteOkay, the details that I liked the most were all from the DT, but what is the DT? I'm seriously out of the loop, I think! Love your special touches for Valentines. I've been shopping, but I keep seeing just dinky things...I need to keep looking. Thank you for sharing your charming designs and for stopping by my post. Just now learned that you've added this blog. On my way to follow. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteDT=Dollar Tree...oh my...serious brain freeze on my part. I hadn't thought of looking there. I'd better get there quick before every thing is gone! Thanks! Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteI love your banner. I've been planning to make a similiar one after I bought some paper doilies. Hopefully I'll get around to it this year.
ReplyDeleteLove how you reused so many of the Michael's Christmas stuff for Halloween. Now I wish I'd gotten those pink trees. However, my favorite is your teapot arrangment!
