In Search of Holiday Ribbon

Hi Friends!  Guess what?  It's that time of year again, when we embark upon that all important quest to find just the right holiday ribbon.  Do you feel the same?

Every year I decide if I am going to reuse the same holiday ribbon from last year or search for a new look.  I'm not sure what it is about ribbons, but one things for sure.   We women take our ribbon shopping very seriously!   Several shopping trips with friends who were also looking for a new ribbon are some of my favorite seasonal shopping memories.  The buddy system is a great way to shop for ribbon.  It never fails even if I am shopping alone for ribbon that I will enjoy a conversation with someone in the ribbon isle.  It's that sharing of thoughts, opinions and ideas that makes buying ribbon such a joy for me.  It may also be why I like trying out new ribbons too.

These were my new ribbon selections from last year.

I ended up only using these spools.  They were actually tulle, and so wonderful to work with!  I still have plenty of this left and will be using it again on a few of my trees but not on the large tree in my den this year.  I am going with a totally different look in the den this year.

The only problem is I haven't yet found quite the right ribbon yet.  Yikes!  It's getting too close for comfort too, because I like to start my tree decorating right after Thanksgiving.  Also since I am so limited on time this year even being able to search the different stores for just the right ribbon has been a challenge.  So this morning, I pulled a few photos from Pinterest to share with you on searching for holiday ribbon.  Here's a few that I found that I absolutely love!

Isn't this the cutest thing!  I love all these plaid ribbons in the jar.  That's almost a decorating statement in itself isn't it?

I thought this was adorable.  I really love the small checked ribbon and the muslim ribbon too.

Here is a great example of checked ribbon on a tree.  It's just gorgeous!

Speaking of gorgeous, how do you like this plaid ribbon?  I love the white and red with just a touch of green.  I think the big beautiful bow and ribbon totally makes this door swag, don't you?

I would love to make one of these ribbon trees one day.  I adore the colors used in this one!  I have to put this idea on the back burner though, thank goodness for pinterest.  I must stay focused on searching for ribbon for my Christmas tree and my mantle right now.

I saw this used quite a bit last year in blogland and absolutely fell in love with it.  I even came across some very inexpensive jute webbing at a thrift store last year and passed it by.  It am kicking myself about that now!

This is very interesting!  It almost looks like gauze to me.  LOL!  I like how natural it looks though.

I also like this look quite a bit too.  I've yet to see anything that even comes close to this in the stores this year though.  Have you?

And last but not least, I also am really liking this look as well.  The only thing is, I'm not so sure I want to make my own burlap ribbons this year.  That could be very time consuming!

By the way, any idea exactly how many yards I need for a very full 8ft tree?  I don't think I've ever measured exactly.  I usually just look for the largest quantities I can get.

So, it's off to the stores I go!
Still searching and enjoying meeting all the other ribbon enthusiasts along the way.  I guess you have a little idea of the direction I'm headed this year.  I still haven't found quite the right one yet.  You know the one that says; YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!

What about you?  Are you in search of  a new ribbon this year?  What are you looking for?
I would love to hear from you.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a very blessed Sunday!

Popular Pins and Repins!

I am still loving this pinning thing, how about you?  I didn't get to pin as much this week but am hoping to sneek in a little more time this weekend.

What I love about pinning is having so many wonderful ideas and visions right at your fingertips that you don't necessarily have to do anything with.  Does that seem crazy to you?  It kinda does to me too, but honestly most of what I love about decor blogging is just getting to see so many wonderful things.  It's that same way with pinning minus reading the blog and commenting and so forth.  It's what I think of as no pressure peeking.  LOL!

Anyway, I just wanted to show you a few things that I pinned that were very popular this week.  I am showing you this because I think it's really cool to see what captures peoples attention the most.  If you are pinning too and have your email set up to receive alerts on your pins then I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about.  It's fun when you get to see a pin that seems to have gone viral.

People must obviously be looking forward to the holidays already because two of my most popular repins are for Christmas decor.

Here's the pin that I think of having gone viral.  I am still constantly getting so many repins of this image from my board that I labeled window boxes.  I found this image on google after searching window boxes.   I love this idea and enjoyed my visit to the blog that this photo links too.  I really hope I can do a window box similar to this  during the holidays.  This is one pin I hope to recreate.

This is the other Christmas repin that was very popular last week.  I repinned this, off of someone else and then immediately had several who repinned it off of me.  I love this idea and was not surprised when I saw that the link it originally came from was a blog that I already enjoy following too.  I feel sure I may try to recreate this image for the holidays because I already have all the elements.

And my final most popular repin is this beautiful Mermaid sculpture.  I would really love to find a beautiful Mermaid to use as a water feature for our new pool.  But it has to be within our budget which is not very much right now with all the other necessities that must come first after putting in the pool.  However a gal can dream can't she?

I found this image by googling Mermaids, then pinned it to my board labeled Sculptures.  This image is a dream and one that I most likely will not get to use but I just love it!  Apparently, so do many others out there.  Isn't there just something so magical about Mermaids?

Well that's what's pinning around here?  What about you?
Has anyone started a repin linky party yet?  That would be fun!

My prayers are with all of you who live up and down the eastern coastline.  I am in SC and feel so blessed that it looks like we may dodge hurricane Irene.  I am sure though that I speak for many when I say, we here in SC will be praying for all of you.  Take Care!

Have a great weekend!

Do you Pinterest?

I do now!  If you do please, look me up and let's follow.  I just got started last night and am postively ghaaa ghaaa over this website.  I was up well into the wee hours of the night (or should I say morning) figuring this website out and pinning.  LOL!

I will be adding my link to my blog just as soon as it comes back up.  Update; done!  Wouldn't you know everytime I try to long on this morning I get..."Sorry, we are making changes, be back later!"  Story of my life!

Okay, I think it's back up now and you can go directly to my page HERE, or follow me by clicking on the link on my sidebar.

Anyway, why do I love this site?  Finally a place to keep track of those wonderful images, books, authors, muscians, objects, and anything else I can think of that I want to catalog.

Here is a brief glimpse of the way a pinterest board looks.  You can name each box and add all the images you want.  This image was taken off of google because I can't log on to mine right now.

You can also view a larger pin board of all your individual boards.  You can follow others and "like" others as well.  And one of the best things about having this is that once you pin something using the Pinterest tag bar it also provides the link back, giving you tons of reference information in seconds.

You can also comment and share info with others on Pinterest if you want but I suggest you read all about "pin etiquette" first.  I plan to use this site primarily for cataloging not so much for chit chatting. So, seriously, if you have Pinterest site let me know cause I would love to see what you love too!

I have heard several bloggers I know of who are using this as well as several of my facebook friends and have been slow to get on board but boy am I sooo glad I finally did.  This is fantastic and I cannot wait to get back on today and start redoing some of my boards to personalize them more for me.

Now I finally have a place to keep up with all those things in my brain that I don't want to forget!
This is fantastic!
I love this!
Thank you Pinterest!

Hope you all have a great weekend!
